Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Galveston County is nonprofit organization that trains volunteers who are appointed by a family court judge to serve as Guardians Ad Litem, and to advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children involved in Child Protective Services cases in Galveston County.
The need for more volunteers is paramount so that CASA of Galveston County can serve 100% of children that need this special voice in the court. You can do this by registering for our upcoming “Walk A Mile in My Shoes” fundraiser on December 5, 2015.
Children in foster care experience multiple changes in their living situation, school placements, loss of friends, and family connections. As a community we must embrace these children and ensure they have a powerful voice – a CASA volunteer is that voice. You can give a child a voice by participating in this walk, by volunteering for CASA, and by spreading the word about the needs of these children.
The walk will take place on the grounds of the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center in Texas City. Registration is $15 and includes entry, t-shirt, raffle, and giveaways. Wear your holiday costume or “ugly” sweater for special prizes to be awarded. You can register for the walk at www.casagalveston.org
CASA of Galveston County strives to ensure that the children, on whose behalf they are appointed to advocate, find a safe and permanent home where they can thrive and reach their full potential in a timely manner. Please join us in this walk to give a voice to every abused and neglected child in Galveston County.
